The first generation of the Carmelite Sisters in Thailand was established in 1925 (B.E. 2468). This followed a visit by Bishop René Perros, then Vicar Apostolic of Bangkok, to the Carmel of Our Lady of Confidence, which had been founded in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

 

The bishop expressed his desire to establish a Carmel monastery in his vicariate to Mother Anne of Jesus-Maria, the Prioress and foundress who had been directing the work in Cambodia since 1913.Guided by Divine Providence, Mother Anne of Jesus-Maria led a group of 12 sisters on a journey to Thailand on September 21, 1925. Despite the arduous travel conditions at the time, which required driving and then boarding a boat, the sisters arrived safely. They traveled to Thailand aboard the ship "Nipa" arriving at their destination on the morning of September 24, 1925. There, they established the first Carmel monastery on Convent Road, Bangkok.
