The St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus Community of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites (OCDS) in Sam Phran traces its origins to 2012. Although the Carmelite Monastery had been established more than twenty years earlier, several attempts to found a Secular Carmelite community had been unsuccessful. Determined to realise this vision, Mother Martha, the Prioress of the monastery, sought the assistance of Mrs. Manorat Termnark, who successfully gathered 27 interested lay faithful. Their first meeting, held on 5 February 2012, marked the beginning of the OCDS community and the election of its first council.

The fraternity began meeting on the third Sunday of each month, following the formation programme of the Bangkok OCDS community, with a diocesan priest serving as chaplain. On 18 May 2014, Fr. Paul Anuphong Srisuk, OCD, became the first Carmelite friar to serve as the community's spiritual assistant. As the fraternity continued to mature, Fr. Paul petitioned the Archdiocese of Bangkok for its formal establishment.

On 16 July 2016, Cardinal Francis Xavier Kriengsak Kovithavanij, Archbishop of Bangkok, officially established the community under the title Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites – St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus Community. The fraternity was subsequently canonically erected on 25 December 2018 by decree of the Superior General, Fr. Saverio Cannistrà, OCD.

Today, the community gathers on the third Sunday of each month at St. Raphael Kalinowski Priory under the spiritual assistance of the Discalced Carmelite Friars, continuing to grow in prayer, fraternity, and fidelity to the Teresian Carmelite vocation.
